It is called 'at will' employment. Your state probably has a human rights commission that handles discrimination and other issues. You might check their web site and possibly give them a call to discuss your situation and see whether they think you have possible grounds for wrongful termination. If you are certain you have been discriminated against, and you know which specific law may have been violated, then you might contact an attorney. Without knowing the specifics of the situation and what was considered insubordination, it is difficult to provide much advice.

I do not seem to able to understand your question completely. Are you saying that you were terminated as a result of you having been insubordinate? OR Are you implying that you were not insubordinate, but was made to look like you were, because they wanted you out? Does your company/employer carry out performance appraisals periodically, and if they do, do you or your company have records of such reviews, which clearly exhibit that you have never had a history of insubordination, and that your performance and record has been spotless? Answering these questions may actually help you decide what course of action you need to pursue. Yes, it is possible that even the best of employees may be driven to insubordination because of constant harassment and discrimination, but this may be hard to prove, in the absence of records. Also in the even of an employee being a victim of harassment or discrimination, you will have to evidence that you have either complained to somebody in HR (or other management) about this, ideally more than a couple of times, or you have evidence of written letters to the management informing that you think you are a victim of harassment or discrimination. If you have been able to successfully answer all of these, and think you have strong case, it may be worth engaging a lawyer.
