For over 10 years I worked as an independent contractor selling products in the State of CA. I worked for a publisher out of Iowa. All sales were in my home state of CA. I received commission from the Iowa company for the products I sold ( in CA).
I paid CA and Federal taxes. Today I received a notice from the Iowa Dept of Revenue saying that I owe Iowa taxes for 2003, 2004, and 2005.
Is this possible???

an hour in Iowa. They, of course, can not legally do this but they DO try. I
taught as an adjunct at an Iowa Community College five years ago. They are
still sending me Iowa income tax forms. I live in SD which has no state
income tax. I throw their forms in the trash.
