Uh...why? Who told you there is anything to be gained by PageRank? It is one
of a hundred or more factors in Google's algorithm, and if you are active on
the Web and have a quality site with good information on it, PageRank will
come as a result of all your other activities.

Good and credible content and targeting on keywords will help you to get
better search results.

Gaining links related to your website is one of the best way to increase your
Google Page Rank but this is sometimes frustrating one, as obtaining links
from them is not easy as finding them in search engines. Creation of high
quality articles and publishing them into article directories though I
preferred to those paid sites than the free one.

Do you ask yourself if your previous link building strategy works? Does your
backlinks coming from quality sites that meet the standards? Gaining
backlinks is one of the best ways to improve your PR but in your case I guess
those sites are not all quality. Google PR is not that much need nowadays as
compare to the past.

Relax! :) Google Page Rank is updated only once in a few months. However, if
you are gaining quality backlinks week-on-week, you should be able to see
improvement in your keyword based traffic as per Google Analytics. The way
Google has been not updating its Page Rank for web pages as often as it used
to do earlier on, one never knows if Google Page Rank will ever exist in the
near future (they've already taken it off the Google Toolbar addon for
browsers). Don't focus too much on Google Page Rank these days.
