HelloI wanted to see how other business owners are balancing their online marketing/advertising vs. traditional marketing/advertising. I know of many businesses in my industry abandoning traditional marketing altogether, focusing only on online methods. At the same time, there are some businesses that have not ventured into the online world for business, prefering to go the traditional route. As for myself, I have found targeted online marketing such as business websites, Google Places, blogs, etc, to be very effective. I have also found that some traditional marketing and advertising resources, such as the yellow pages (books) and television, to be ineffectual.Interestingly, other traditional approaches, such as active involvement in my local chambers of commerce, continues to be an important and sustainable business strategy. In fact many of my marketing ideas come from other local businesses which share their business experiences at chamber meetings. Lately, our chamber discussions have been about social networking, online reviews, and Google's +1, to name a few subjects.I am interested about other small business owners' industries, what approaches work, and which don't, and how other businesses are apportioning their time and resources towards today's marketing and advertising.Thanks.Gregory

responses. Diversification in ones marketing efforts is always good, but if
you are looking at a certain demographic for your business, determining what
medium and harnessing a large degree of your efforts aimed at that medium
would ensure your attracting the kind of demographic our looking for.

that these search engines have a lot of power and influence over any
businesses online marketing presence. Traditional methods of advertising such
as Direct Mail Marketing, Television, etc. you have more control over your
campaign. You can target towards specific audiences and can allow for a more
descriptive message. I would also say that the traditional methods are more
proactive methods of marketing, whereas online marketing is more reactive.
People have to be searching for a product to find you rather than a mail
piece is pushing your message out to people who may have not been looking for
your product.

ROI and i recommend all businesses, brands to give it a shot. I strongly
believe that those brands that do not take up online marketing will lag
behind, and eventually get weeded out by other brands that dare to step up
into the online platform. You have to also integrate alongside with social
media such as facebook and twitter to get the best results.

and online advertising. However Online Advertising is skyrocketing and there
has been between a 29% increase in online ads in the past year only. Check
out the AmeroBiz Blog for a recent post about traditional advertising versus
online advertising spending.
