I've never done public speaking and really have no idea about promoting a business through a lecture that will be on film. I obviously don't want to waste the opportunity as it could be great promotion. I'm starting to read about the topic, but can anybody give me some tips as to how to turn this into a viable video that be used on a website w/ some tips on speaking about business to a public audience?

Reach out to a producer at The Learning Annex. They regularly book 20-minute seminar-like sessions that introduce their viewers to new ideas. Topics vary, but I think that would be a great place for you to start if you want to work with a group that is experienced and has a significant reach to spread your message. I would recommend you to read Dale Carnegie's books. They include a lot of helpful recommendations on how to make a speech and make a positive impression on people. I think this information will help you in your business.

First it sounds as though this will be professionally filmed which is good because they probably are adept at switching between you & your slide content which will make for a much more enjoyable user experience. I'm a little worried as you are a self-professed novice at speaking in front of groups. To that end my recommendation would be that you practice it in front of a mirror several times before taking the stage to address you body language, hand positioning, etc. It would also be useful to practice in front of someone who will give you honest feedback on your tone & body language. Assuming that the video comes out in a way your are proud of & will positively present your business you then must consider how you wil use it. In its full format a 45 minute presentation will present a huge burden on most shared hosting accounts. And will be far too ong and large to be hosted on something like you-tube (10 min limit). My suggestion if you want to keep the video in its entirety is to use a paid video hosting platform or to host it in the cloud on amazon's s3 server. To make this a turely powerful marketing piece you;ll have to be able to edit this to 10 min or less in order to distribute it among the various video sharing sites such as YouTube, Metacafe, & Viddler. Good Luck.

Thanks for this. I'm sure you're busy and the time you took to write this out is not only appreciated, but helpful as well. Here are some of the thoughts I have regarding your points:
Practicing in front of a mirror:
This is a great idea. I know I'm supposed to do it and it's not a new trick, it's just distracting for me. Though, I will try it.
Tone and body language:
I got an idea. Since I live in New York, I can always pay a casting director to go over it w/ me in front of camera.
Where can the video go on our website:
Since we are hosting on the basic servers (don't know if I'm allowed to say their name), I'm thinking that this company will probably be able to up our plan to host it. I would rather have it on our site, but cloud computing will be a good idea. I feel as if a lot of small business try to promote themselves via a YouTube video and a lot of times, it does not work.
Editing:
This will be done for us. However, ten minutes is probably the maximum - I have not thought of this, but see what you are getting at.
In the End:
I know this can be a great promotional tool that will be free for us that many businesses our size cannot afford. I just have to practice and practice so I don't waste an opportunity.
Thanks for the responses. First, I have never spoken in front of a camera on a business topic, therefore I am unsure whether to use PP or have a document in front of me while speaking as, from what I've read, excessive movements don't look well. Since this is going to be free for me (the video), I would like it as a marketing tool, therefore want to be quite perfect at it.
I agree about not 'over-hying' your business. I think the business knowledge should speak for itself. That's the angle that I'm approaching it from.
After you build your lecture i think it is more easy to insert your business inside when you use examples and/or demonstrate business models.
I hope you got the idea but remember you shouldn't do 'excessive' advertiving or you will be found not reliable.

I will be in front of an audience speaking about a business topic that is related to my business. This will be filmed. Therefore, I was hoping to get some tips to use this potential small-business marketing opportunity to its fullest extent.
