I have 2 websites that are managed by a gentleman I hired..(I've gone through
several that made promises and couldn't deliver). He is very ill, so he is
very slow in making updates to my sites....I need a website analytics added
to my website so I can track where people are finding us from. We spend
17,000 on advertising between membership websites, print, radio and other
media. Does anyone know of a simple maybe even free program we can add to our
website? I downloaded one but it was so complicated I couldn't use it. I also
don't want to download an unsafe program or scam by accident. Thank you for
your assistance!

I would need to know more about what platforms your site is built on to
advise on how to add your code to your sites...
The first step is to setup your Google Analytics account and get your code
snippet generated for each website. www.google.com/analytics/
Then it is a matter of getting that code snippet onto each and every page on
that site. Depending on how your site was built, this can be a very easy
task, or very difficult. IE: Many site frameworks have a single area that you
can copy the snippet into ONE time and it will automatically insert that
snippet throughout the site for you. BUT if you have an older static site,
you may need to copy that snippet into the source of every single page by
hand.
Without knowing more about your current setup, I can't really advise any
further.

moreover you can use both google Analytics and Statcounter togather for best
results.

webs browser's View menu's Source command (to display the HTML), and scroll
down the bottom of the page, you can see the Google Analytics script... those
last few lines of code...

update the website. You need to place a bit of code on each page you want to
track. It is cut and paste code, so quick and easy. Can you perhaps sit down
with your site manager for a few minutes one day and have him add the code
while you are there. If you have the time, you may want to consider learning
how to do your own site updates.
