Good morning,
I wanted to take a moment to let my groups know about a conference I will be
attending this week and ask what your thoughts are about this post.
In addition to direct HR support to small entities, I also offer course
development/facilitation services utilizing my experiences and GCDF
certification as a skill set. Both of these services are provided virtually
from a home based self employed woman owned business. However, just this
month I did hire a young lady to support the business on a Part-Time basis
and to be the "face" to the business during traditional office hours.
This week our State Department of Education along with other interesting
organizations will be hosting the Summer CTE conference. I chose to attend
this conference in hopes of connecting the K-12 environment needs to the HR
and Workforce Development arena. I will be sharing the "I love HR" area with
all who will hear.
I want to introduce this audience to HR from the introduction to the more
advanced stage and this will be what I am "selling" (in the networking sense)
this week. It would be truly very rewarding to share my professional
experience, knowledge and career development discoveries with High School
Students in hopes of getting much needed information to them and light a fire
for those who may seek a career related to HR.
I would love to hear from the Small Business community. How is HR connected
to your business and what would you offer to someone looking to work in or
learn about HR? I'll watch for responses and hope you have a wonderful week.
I will report back on the conference next Monday.
Have a great week.

there have not been any updates. From my experience it is often difficult to
engage high school students in a meaningful way that really sticks with them.
Did you learn any tips on how to get through to them in an effective way?
