I am just curious to see how other people are promoting their web presence for their businesses on line? I am looking for other suggestions beyond being the top spot in google for every keyword. Any ideas? Please let me know, Thanks!

Being the top spot in Google is the best way to promote your online business. It takes lots of work and time to get there though. However, traffic from the search engines is free, so if you are on a tight budget, it's definitely the best way to go.
The second method to get traffic to your website is to pay for it: advertising. Ads on Google will bring you visitors immediately; Yahoo! and other search engines can be used as well. There are many other online advertising options, like ezine ads, text link ads, ads on free sites like Craigslist, USFreeAds and others. You can even advertise on Facebook and Twitter!
There are many other places to advertise on the inernet, and you can advertise offline as well.
A third method to create website traffic is to use social media. If you can build credibility and authority on networking and bookmarking sites they will bring you some visitors, but it takes much time and work to accomplish.
As far as I know there is no secret quick and easy way to generate traffic. You will have to invest your money or your time, or a combination of both.

Actually it is very tedious to promote your website because you need to find the right locations to promote, spend much work to write to a high page rank website in your niche. Perhaps the most important part is to build relationship with other webmasters. You can also try to publish it in squidoo, ezinearticles...

One thing that I do... I have an account on a few different sports message boards that I post with regularly. These boards in particular have a lounge/news section. So, I post a good interesting article on my website, then I post about that article on those message boards. There are TONS of these message boards, and most sports fans belong to several. droberts2 suggestion about submitting to article directories such as ezine is very good. Articlebase is also another high quality directory. If you like writing, this should be a breeze for you. If the content is good, other sites will pick up your articles and begin syndicating them. This allows the links in your resource box to spread to more sites, creating more backlinks to your site.

There are many ways of promoting your websites, and most of them have been listed in previous posts. but here are just a few of my own tips:
Make sure your keyword is in your head title
Make sure your keyword is in the body of your page
When writing your homepage text make sure your keyword density is between 5-10% and now and then make your keywords bold or italic, you can also use your keyword as anchor text for a link to your homepage
Go through your site and slightly change your text and info so it contains a good amount of keywords – not too much though, again stick to 5-10%
Start writing content and articles and use the points above in your articles, this will bring fresh new content to your website and search engines love it!
Get your free google places registed it is quick and easy to do.
Of cause these are only simple tips to ensure that you get the traffic to your website you should emply the services of a professional SEO compnay.
