I have finally taken the plunge and joined the online world! I designed a website and began an internet business. The website URL is sunflowerfavors.com, which sells wedding favors, party favors, and other event favors. I see there is very tough competition in this arena, with lots of people selling these types of products. What recommendations would you give for competing in this space? Where should I focus my marketing efforts? Is the new social media push worth the time? Any tips you have for new small businesses in the online world, I would love to hear it! Thanks in advance for any tips you could give me for my online wedding favors business.

Have you thought about trying any of the bridal shows? We've found alot of photographers will go to them.
Another thing that you may want to look at is partnering with the photographers, djs and planners. If everyone supports each other, you'll end up with a great network.

Hi and congratulations in taking the plunge online. Once you have a website set up it is hard for people to find you on google if you dont have a domain name that points to your niche! (bridal favours) .
One way to establish yourself on the internet is to project yourself as a leader in your industry. You can do this in many free ways.
Start a wordpress.org blog and attached you domain name to this site. It will be your home for your bridal favours which you can use to tell everyone about.
You can start driving traffic to your site through social networking i.e. facebook, twitter etc.
Submitting articles to article directories on the internet.
You can also do pay per click advertising on Facebook which specifically targets your niche,. ie age group , audience , where they live etc. This does not have to be expensive either.

Congrats on strating your business.
A lot of good advice has already been given so im no going to repeat any of it but a poster did say that it would be very difficult to rand on the first page of Google to say wedding favours due to the amount of competition out there.
I think it would be better if you were to target a small niche with you keywords so instead of trying to rank for wedding favours maybe try and rank for pink wedding favours or something similar.
By the way, love the site design and layout. Very well done. Did you hire someone to do this for you?
