So this is a matter of opinion but I get newsletters from Joel Comm about the Top One Report and in there he listed a bunch of hosting companies. My favorite listed was hostmonster.com and my second was hostgator.com but my friend seems to be in a rut and keeps telling me to use godaddy.com - I'm the kind of person who doesn't like to always listen to TV ads and I want to make up my own decisions. Anyone use these and have a favorite?

I have installed sites at GoDaddy for several clients. You really have to fight your way through the constant attempts to sell you something to get a site installed. Godaddy is an excellent choice they help you organize multiple domains with their domain manager in nice folders. Bluehost and Hostmonster are also brother and sister companies.

I personally like to use Aplus.net, they have decent pricing and excellent customer service. Did you know they are one of the 'original' accredited domain name registrars from icann? Hell, if you've been around that long you must provide a great service ;). They do have a little pricey dedicated servers; however their support is far superior than other hosting company I've used, I'm willing to pay more to get more.

I use Bluewho for my sites and am very satisfied. I tried using the cheap web host  offers on Ebay before when I was just starting out but had a terrible experience with that.
