Hey guys, I am looking for advice on growing a business by purchasing other companies. We have been running our lawn mowing business in Flower Mound, Texas since 2005. We have figured out what is profitable for us and what our customers like. Now we are ready to expand very quickly. We can profitably and confidently duplicate ourselves with little effort. We have streamlined our services to include just mowing, mulch, bush trimming, and flower planting to our customers in Lewisville, Flower Mound and Highland Village Texas. I suppose we are not limiting ourselves to staying within those cities but it would be preferred to achieve density in the community. There are some neighboring cities such as Denton, Corinth, Frisco, Little Elm, Mckinney, and Plano which have some great local economy that would support our business. We are open minded to moving into those areas too. ---------- Question 1: I have Google searched for businesses for sale and looked on craigslist for folks wanting to get out of the business without turning up anything worth buying. How do you find a business for sale that is profitable? Question 2: How do you recommend structuring the purchase/payout of a business? Question 3: What are some pitfalls I should look out for when growing business in this way?
