i am in the very early stages of starting my first business. i'm looking for tips, tricks, pointers, advice, anything to help me get started on the right foot. my plan is a homebased business selling a product. im looking first and foremost at funding to start and register my business. grant oppurtunities would be my number one choice but if that fails then where do i go from there? where is the best place to find legit grants for statup businesses? registering?

second everyone else's comments. A business plan is crucial. Think of every
single detail possible to cover all your bases. A good website is also
important, especially since everything is going online now. Good luck.

How much capital are you going to be working with? Also, if you don't have a
business plan in place then dont worry. Most large successful corporations
never even had a business plan (learn this in my entrepreneurship class).
I would suggest having a professional web design and enhance your online
presence with your website and social media, for beginners.
Regardless I'm sure you'll be successful! good luck

rely only on one source of income. Diversify

because it represents YOU and your company. I've come across lots of
businesses and websites that have a sub-par website and people see that and
get an impression of you and your business.
So have a quality, professional website design and make sure you have the
proper SEO (possibly hire a local firm) so your website is visible. After
all, what would be the point if nobody can find your website?

get a loan when you are confident you can repay it.

first create a concrete business plan. What would be your goals and
priorities. And then, that's the time you worry about where to find you
funds. Maybe you can have a loan on a bank but be sure you have a good
financial reputation so that banks can approve your application for loan.
Also, when your business has started, make sure you put your 100% attention,
cause nowadays starting a business is really a big challenge. And it is very
essential that you're totally focus on your business.

need to do. As you do the research for your plan, you will discover issues
you need to address. You will need a comprehensive business plan before
approaching a lender. If you are not comfortable writing your plan or doing
the required research, the organizations listed by Ken Murray can help.
You can forget about grants to start a for-profit business that sells a
product. About the only grants available to start-ups are for those that are
engaged in new technology development. There are a few micro loans available
for small amounts. Perhaps your business would qualify for one.
