Do I have to fill out any forms if I am not a US Resident to get commision from US company?

Hi

 

I have this question that is really bothering me, lets say I am doing some sales for a US company online and they told me that I need to fill up certain forms before they paid my commision. I am not from the US and what are the forms required for me to fill and is this necessary?

Are you being paid as an independent contractor? If so, you need to provide the company with a form W-9. At the end of the year, the company will send you a form 1099-MISC listing the amount they paid you during the year. That is used to determine the amount on which you must pay taxes. You can find information on the Internal Revenue web site, irs.gov. Do a search on the site using the term 'independent contractor' to find articles that may address your issue. If you don't provide the necessary paperwork to the company, they can refuse to hire you, or if you have completed work, they can refuse to make payment until they receive the proper paperwork.
