Hi,

 

I own a website a person is wants to advertise on it. Do I need to be a corporation or LLC to give him an insertion order for him to make an advertising order?

For selling advertising spot on an individual site, yuo dont need to register a company. You can just sell it privately and accept payment via paypal, google checkout, 2CO, etc. with PayPal being the most popular method of payment online. Unless it is required by law to run certain business or offer certain services, or there is any specific benefit of doing business as a company name as opposed to individual name, you can run a business or sell advertising spot as an individual.

For information about registering your business name and entity with your state you can visit business.gov's information on DBA.

You don't need to be a corporation or an LLC, but if you plan to make money from your site, you do need to register your business name and entity type with your state or county agency that handles such matters.
