A business license is just one of many things you will need.  Most small business owners forget to incorporate (LLC is the same thing) and obtaining an EIN.  Make sure that you are compliant with City Code, as well as State restrictions.  On top of that make sure you have enough in reserves to have insurance in case one of your clients decides to get you for damages.     Be prepared and be careful, it is a lot more complicated than people assume.       Sincerely,       Ilya Bodner Small Business Owner Initial Underwriting Group

From your initial question I believe you will be braiding hair in your home for some fixed fee. If this is the case, I suggest using the Business.gov search to find out if there is a cosmetology license that is required by your state for a beauty salon.
