Hello everyone, quick question, small UK business- wants to send a representative to New York for a few months. Not setting up anything, just to market services provided in the UK and to arrange a few meetings with potential clients. No money will change hands (might pay for luch for some potential clients met)May also market the fact that will eventually set up a base in New York.Do I need to register with New York state to market services (will basicaly just making phone calls from a hotel room and arranging meetings), Do i need to pay any tax?Does anyone know any website that can help?or does anyone know the answer?OO
If the trip is simply a fact finding one, you shouldn't need to register the business or pay taxes. When or if you make the decision to establish a branch in the U.S., then you will need to comply with U.S. laws for establishing a business.
