You can do it by yourself. Learn SEO by yourself. But if your planning to hire for SEO experts be sure they're really experts. 

Finding a good SEO company is not very easy these days.  It seems like there are more fake pro's and goon's out there than ever.  Make sure to hire a reputable company that focuses on results.

I think the better way is first hire a Seo services but not forget study this complicated world (SEO) because in a future you are the best person for improve yours results

I would suggest to opt for a professional expert in the begining as you may place links on sites that may have been banned by google. This may adversely affect your page rankings. Also SEO experts have a database where they can place links to your site, to quick move it up the page rank......

I hava a little bit of knowledge of of SEO and therefore I can add meta tag, meta description and other things myself but I can not resolve issues like reboxt.txt or similiar somplicated things. I am a pretty tech-savvy business owner, so I am doing the SEO part of my site. This is not very hard to do, at least on my level. However, I can understand those who are not that familiar with computers and internet, and find Search Engine Optimization a hassle.

I would advise that you use Pay Per Click marketing before doing seo.   Reasons -   1 - You know for a fact which keywords are going to convert for you.   2 - You get to optimize your website for high conversions during the ppc phase.   3 - Your ppc campaign will pay for itself.   4 - After doing seo and getting your site ranked is the wrong time to start tinkering with it and trying to improve it for conversions. (Sometimes) you can affect your rankings in a temporarily negative way by doing this.   5 - Your ppc profits will enable you to do a better seo job simultaneously if your budget is limited starting out.

I have tried to do SEO myself for my Cytogenetics and Cancer Research blog. I don't think i'm doing well on it. Most of the beginner in the world wide web use a lot of time to do the SEO, as me too. After start blogging for 2 months time, i know that the content is king. Now i will do the SEO only a week a time. I will spend most of my time to contribute in my content. Do it yourself , learn how to do it. SEO is really not that hard outsourcing is not always a good idea , some companies claim to bring you traffic , deliver fraud clicks to your website. If you have to do it then ask for a testomonial. The risk comes from linking your website to bad neigborhoods also adding non original website causing your online business to get penelized by major search engines.
