Hi Robert, Not too long ago I read an article about (from what I recall) a Florida-based home theatre installation company. They would drive to the client to install the theatres. Over the course of the year they installed theatres in a number of different states and came to find out they were liable for business taxes in those states, even if they only worked in them 1 day out of the entire year. I am NOT a tax professional by any means so I do not know the rules for circumstances like that. You should find one to consult about this. But if that article I read was correct, you may want to think twice about states you do business. For example, it may not be worth doing business in California 1 day out of the year considering a LLC/corp doing business there has to pay a $800 fee annually).

Robert, I also wanted to add that if you have earned income in more than one state this year you will need to pay income taxes in both states according to what you earned in each state.

Robert, There are several states that have no income tax but if you are not a resident it will not matter to you. You pay taxes to the state where you live. You can check with your state's department of revenue about filing and paying taxes.
