I am trying to find out some additional information in regards to a business I am wanting to get started. I am looking to start a stationary business more or less. Announcements, Shower Invites, Save The Dates, Etc....
I already have the name selected that I would like. I am aware in Orlando, FL you have to have a business license and I will be going to purchase it this week.
I recently signed up with a site after doing a lot of research looking for the best site to set up my online business with. I have found this site to be very confusing (that's odd as well considering I know a lot about computers, internet, etc...). I can not for the life of me figure it out and I guess something that is easier setup, easier navigation and easier use is what I'm looking for.
So here are the questions:
1. Am I required to have my business license in order to claim expenses on my taxes under the business?
2. Do I have to register the name as a fictitious (spelling) name, or can I still have a business with that name but unregistered?
3. Is there anything with the IRS that I must do other then keeping track of sales and expenses?
4. Can someone suggest a hosting site that may be easier to navigate, and have perks like the website WIX.com (It's a flash site, and is pretty nice, don't know if I want that price though).
5. Can anyone suggest anything that perhaps I haven't though of or a nice piece of advice that may be helpful when starting off.

A good web hosting service to try is http://www.ingenyes.com. Their service is free so it is a great way to get online. They also have a site builder included with 900 templates.
1. No, you don't have to have a registered business name in order to deduct business expenses. There are other rules that will dictate wether or not you can deduct business expenses.
2. Depends on your state's laws.
3. Yes. Check out the IRS Small Business Calendar. Each month has a different topic. Read them all to have an overview of your responsibilites. http://www.tax.gov/calendar/
4. Check out running your site on a wordpress framework. I use wordpress and thesis theme and it can do just about anything.

2, I use go-daddy because I find them to be the most reasonably priced...
3,Just for some advice I would tell you to use adwords keyword tool to see which are the most searched for keywords related to your business when choosing a domain name.

as far as hosting goes, server up time is very important. If/price is a major consideration check out retailmenot.com they have discount codes for almosteverything inc. Hosting.

2) Yes you can register your business name but make sure it is not an existing trademark. You can check that on USPTO.gov website. It will give info on patents and trademark names.
3) Can't answer this question.
4) Well there are many free webhost available but most of them don't offer free website builder like WIX. I found yola.com, it is good too and free. So try it.
5) There are many web designer available. Just find someone cheap. Remember these free host like WIX have limited resources for free users. So think before taking any service.
