It sounds like you are confusing standard business licenses with professional licenses. While you may be able to use the same EIN, sales tax permit, etc. - Salons and fitness centers are two very different business activities and subject to different regulations. State licensing departments often have regulations for barbers, cosmetologists, hair stylists, nail technicians, estheticians, electrologists, and establishments. It's a good question- hair salon's, heck even barber shops have types of licenses and the like up on the walls. It certainly seems like there is some type of inspection or testing process. How are you planning to run it? Assuming you're going to hire a manager, can't that person work with you to get the proper licenses set up? If it's like a real estate agency, you need someone with the proper licenses to get started.
