I have heard so many times that the SBA do not offer grants. My question is
what sort of help do they offer for startup company

SCORE can help you research your market, develop your business plan and are
there for you to bounce ideas off of - from people that have already gone
through what you are now going through. They also offer classes to educate
you and your staff on how to run a business from marketing, management,
accounting and finance.
They also may know of resouces in your community that will lend to your
business from 504 loan programs and community development funds, local banks
and credit unions that will do SBA loans to other local resources like
private lenders or public micro-loan programs - not to mention local grant
opportunities.
Best way to find out is to just go in there and talk to them - let them know
what you are looking for and see what they can offer you.
