Hi Jolie,
I would imagine you have three considerations for choosing a web site name (domain):
1. You would want the URL to be relevant to your business, e.g. your business name.
2. You would want the URL to be more accessible for people typing your domain name.
3. You would want the URL to be something that will help your business to show up on Google and other search engines.
I believe you can figure out numbers one and two yourself, so my advice is on number three: search engines give heigher precendence to web sites whose URLs are similar to what the person is searching for. For instance, when you search for 'weather', google puts sites that their URL contain the word 'weather' before. It doesn't mean that domains with the exact wording will go first; it just means that they have one more factor that will help their listing. Besides that, of course, your content, titles, meta data, and of course, links and amount of users, (and page rank) will determine your exact location within the results.

Finding a website name is always a hard thing i feel, especially when you have to tie it in with the name of your business. Sometimes the domain names are not available or the .com is and the .co.uk isn't. Below are a few things I feel are important.
1) Ensure that the domain address looks right visually and does'nt have to many hypenated seperations.
2) Ensure that the domain name is not confusing. Meaning Profitsupplies for example is 'pro Fit Supplies' but when together it looks like Profit Supplies'
3) From a SEO point of view, if a keyword that you were after tied in to the domain name then visitors searching would get a better chance in you popping up on results.
Hope the above helps

1) A winning business name has to be memorable but easy to spell.2) A winning business name needs a visual element.3) A winning business name has to have positive connotation.4) A winning business name needs to include information about what your business does.5) A winning business name has to be fairly short. And a last tip: think about colours when youre choosing a business name. Colours will be an important component of your business logo and other business promotion materials and your business web site, and colours have strong emotional associations, too.
Hi Jolie, the name of your website helps a great deal in online searches, for example if you sell watches it would help a lot if you had the word 'watches' in your title - for example 'homemadewatches.com'. The website name is very important, and .com carries more weight with most serach engines than .net etc...
A website name to your business is just like your name to you,!!!
once u got it, its stays! so take as much time to think it over,....
rebranding is very difficult & expensive!
1. short name easy to memorize,... remember there are more clients with short memory than long!
2. one or two words only,... three makes a long domain name. unless u really have a good one.
3. look for words where scope for typos is less,.... u tend to lose clients who find it difficult to remember/ spell ... !!!
4. if ur going for a domain with a '-' in the middle,.... do register the domain without the '-', and redirect it to your main site,

Hi
It depends on what you are trying to actually do online. Based on your market, you will want to do thorough keyword research. From there you can look to see if there are domain names available with your main keyword or keywords. You will like find that you will need to have several keywords in your domain name. But some other things to keep in mind is putting the word 'about' in front of your potential name if your first choice is not available. I have done that myself and come up with great names. Anyways, I hope that helps abit. As well, when looking for hosting, just Google website hosting companies and look for reviews of different companies. I have used hostgator for several years without any problems.
Cheers
