I would like to share some employee management tips with you, which are based on my own experience. When you hire a people you should do the best to provide competitive conditions. The main task for any employee is to hire a person that will work for his/her company for a long time. When you see that employee get used to the work and demonstrate high level skills and good attitude towards work, it is time for rewards. My general recommendations are the following: stay in good communication with employees, provide good work conditions and professional growth opportunity. Also it makes sense to research the labor market and rates on a regular basis.

To be a manager you need to have common sense :). You can read all the books you want or attend all the classabut managing but bottom line it is always a work in progress. The daily decision that you have to make, must be made decisively Good or Bad, the ability that you show when dealing with problem will mold you and hopefully make you better manager in the future. On a side note taking some Psychology class wont hurt

Kiki: Managing people is a skill that can't be learned from any text or lecture....While there are many books about 'management' and the flavor of the day, the real key is to be true to who you are as a person first, recognize your strengths and weaknesses and manage your staff to those characteristics..To be a great manager you have to be secure with who you are and what you bring to the party, hire the absolute best people you find based on comp and geographic restrictions ,  'TRAIN THEM' , give them a detailed outline of their specific roles and responsibilities (Along with KPI's) and then let them do their jobs. You then act as overseer, not micro manager.... I have 20 plus years of managment experience, but I wish I knew all of these key learnings when I first started...probably would have saved a few career moves..LOL Is there a book I do recommend? Yes, Jim Collins 'Good to Great', while not specifically a 'management' book, it will give you a holistic primer for how to manage and run your company successfully....   At my previous stop, I managed a North American sales team of 48 people, with 8 direct reports and heads in 6 cities....50MM annual revenue so I'm speaking from having experienced the belly of the beast.....I wish you much success in your endeavors...

From my experience i think that mostly you learn how to manage through time and through good or bad decisions you make. For some people it takes more time than others, some take less, and some will never get there no matter how much they will read!
