Google recently released its Google +1 which allows visitors of a website to rate the site's content by simply clicking on the Google +1 icon which is place on the website.What impact will this have on small businesses who must compete against much larger businesses? Our comapny created a website for small businesses to network together. Or goal is to unite as many small businesses as possible in order to co-market and better compete against the advantages of much larger organizations. We have palce the Google +1 on that site hoping that once others see the higher combined numbers it will evn the playing field.if you have not see the Google +1 you can check it out on our site. I am not a web wizard but I think this is the way of the future and most small companies should invest some serious time looking at the possibilities of the impact of +1 marketing.I would love to get some feedback from others who are much more knowagable than myself.Thanks in advandce, Jeff
Hmmmm quite good. People think that getting G+ Invite is like getting gold. LOL. I don't know whethere it's good thinking from google or not. but it will surely defeat facebook soon.

Ranking wise I don't think it will have any effect. However this can be very beneficial to local businesses since when clients search online, they will get notifications if their friends liked that business or not. Friends liking a business = a BIG plus for the business for sure :)
Therefore Id say its not about how many +1 you have but by who - having a few local +1 is better then a lot of worldwide +1s

Implemented and testing. Also joined the Plus Network on Google in its beta phase. With a few tests run already, looks like Google+ Compared to Twitter is still indexing a tiny bit slower, but at-least it is still being used when you test it against a site that isn't utilizing twitter at all. Can't wait to run some more tests and see how it continues to grow.

I thnk the advantage that Google has over say Facebook is that Google is the most sought after and used search engine. If they one day (and I feel confident tey will soon) put your +1 results in the search page it could make a huge difference in who will click on the site and who will look for someoe with many more recommendations. This is where I think it could be a bit scary for a small business who can not compete against a company like Wal-mart.
I wish the consumers could put enough pressuer to put a ratio into the factor. For example: 10M users liked and 5M dislike. The fact that they will not give both sides of the equations leads me to beleive it is mroe for makeing money from advertising and marketing.
I am very interested in where this is going. It would be nice to be on the cutting edge for once...LOL

I installed the +1 button the day after it was very quietly released. Getting people to click it is like pulling teeth!
One article I read about it is that people want "something" for their click. The +1 gives nothing but takes your information and shares it. I think some people are leary of it still.
Ours has been up for over a month and we have 8 +1's! Sooo, if you visit our site, click it and I'll let you know if it's helping in any way. Still not seeing anything in Google Analytics or Webmaster Tools about it so it's hard to tell if there's any impact from this thing-a-ma-jigger!

I think it will take some time until the +1 will have a real affect on rankings. To make it a dominant factor, it must gain big momentum and be as popular as the Facebook's "Like". From what i have experienced from Google+ social network, it feels pretty cool, the only problem is that so far i'm pretty much alone- Not so social yet...
