I'm a small business home base business owner who is seeking a Transportation Grant.  I have a Charter Bus company which provide transportation to schools and churches, and right now I'm needing to expand my fleet and needing some much needed repairs on my equipment and to move in a bigger building.  Is there any help out there?

Most government grants in this area - must go through your local government. Which means you apply through them, if they accept you, they receive the funds then grant them to you. If you are in a rurual area (under 50,000 population) you may stand a better chance - but, you must approach it from their prospective. They will grants funds to companies that 1) create jobs and 2) provide a needed service in your community. Try - grants.gov, sba.gov and usda.gov - search these sites for grant opportunities and their requirement (including who you apply with). Other than that there are private ways to get funds for expansion and repairs. There equipment lenders that can help you expand your fleet - they can even use your current vehicles as collateral for working capital or, depending on how you are paid, there are accounts receivable lenders that might be able to help.
