Grant for small business for a single mom

Hello! I am a single mom, trying to find a grant to help me buy an existing business. Most of the money would be used for buying the equipment, supplies & client list from the existing owner, as well as a new building, utlities, phone & business license. Is there anyone that can help me?

Hello Angie,

There is a grant that is dedicated to helping single moms with additional
funding for their business called the Hope Grant. If you do a search for the
grant in Google, you should be able to find it.

Hi, SBA doesn't provide grants, but you can use our loans and grants tool to find financing for your small business. This form provides a guide to programs for which you may be eligible. SBA's resource partners like SCORE, Women’s Business Centers and Small Business Development Centers are located across the country and provide free business counseling to individuals looking to start or expand a small business. Visit SBA Direct to find your local SBA resource partners by entering your zip code.

Generally, grants are not available to purchase or start a for-profit business. Low interest loans may be available, however. Your best bet is to contact a small business development center or a SCORE office in your area and talk with a counselor. Their services are free and they can tell you what sources of funding may be best for your situation. They can also help you get started on your business plan, which you will need before you approach a lender.
