I am intrested in starting a dog breeding business. I've been disabled since 1992 and have been applying for my disability ever since that time. I've been turned down every step of the way. I've been all the way through the system twice to no avail. I'm very limited as to what I can phyically do so for the last two years I've been breeding registered English Bulldogs but I only have four dogs right now and I need to expand. I've applied for loans six different times and have been turned down every time because I haven't had an income all this time. We can't get by on one income any longer so I have to do something so I've been trying to learn about possibly obtaining a small business grant but havn't had much progress. Anything I could learn that would help would be greatly appreciated.

Government agencies do not provide 'special' grants for disabled entrepreneurs nor do they provide grants for starting a business, paying off debt, or to cover operating expenses.
However, there are government resources and low-interest loans for disabled entrepreneurs. Read more in our blog: Disabled Entrepreneurs: Resources and Tips for this Highly Successful Business Group.

I need some similar help.I am disabled,and have been since Jan.30,2005.I won my disability claim retroactive back to then.It was in August of 07,it went back to Aug.of 05.I lost about $23000 of may payoff,due to having to pay back SSI from my wife and son.What they got, while I was fighting to get my disability.Now that is all me and my wife have for income, is my disability income.We can just barely cover our every day expenses.
We have already gotten about $12000 worth of dogs.That we have been able to get,but now we are struggling to get started.We could use some help,so I was looking to see if there was any grants too help us out...
Most grants are not for 'for-profit' businesses and very few for your industry. You could try finding a private foundation in your industry that could help you get started - just make sure your business helps them meet their mission.
You state you have been turned down 6 times from banks. Can you tell a bit more about the amount you are seeking and what those funds will be used for? There are many programs (even for start-ups) but depend on the amount and purpose of the funds.
