Hello whitewolf, I think it would help you to go for equity financing. What is means is that your business will receive funds in exchange for equity ownership. This means a lot of financial investigators will be all involved in the funding of your business start up or expansion. Study this well, as this differs in some areas from business start up grants.

There are non-bank altenative sources for funding that many small business owners are not aware of because the traditional sources of small business finance do not offer these solutions.  One of these solutions is called invoice factoring.  While not a solution for all business owners, it can be a viable source for accelerating cashflow when cash is locked up in receivables.   If the business sells to other businesses (B2B) or to government entities (B2G), then thoses businesses with less than one year in operation can very likely qualify for this type financing.  It is not a loan so it is interest-free.  Nor is it not based on the business owners credit.  Instead the decision to factor invoices is based on the credit-worthiness of the customers.   As a business owner you would be selling your invoices at a discount to get cash within 24-48 hours.  So, if you provide goods and services B2B or B2G, billing your customers and are waiting to 30; 45+ days to get paid, then invoice factoring can be a solution.  Use the accelerated cash to pay taxes, buy inventory/equipment, meet payroll, etc.  You decide.   One of the attractive features of invoice factoring is that it grows with your sales revenue.  As the cash is used to grow the company, the amount of cash available through invoice factoring grows as well.   So, if your sales are good, but you need capital for growth or cash for survival, invoice factoring may be a solution worth investigating.   Hope this is useful as you search for financing alternatives for your business.

Often times it's really difficult to get anything from the covet this early on in your business.  There are some outlets for a business with around 1 year seasoning but that depends on what type of business you are in because the driver behind riskier products is your margin of profit...   Restaurants, retail and anything with a storefront usually fare best because if it's tangible it's more measurable.   What line of work are you in??

SBA 7A loans and in some cases bank lines of credit for small business (glorified credit cards) that are either <$100K or <$50K. Criteria will be different from bank to bank.
