I am looking for grants to help my husband and I start up a feed and hardware store in our community. We already have the building and property, however, the building needs some minor work, and then there is the inventory to stock it. Can someone point me in the right direction.

You need to look for a loan, perhaps a micro loan, not a grant. Grants are not available to for-profit businesses. If, in the process of upgrading the building, you decide to install something like solar panels, you might qualify for a tax credit, but not a grant.
