Grants for starting a buisness

Hi all, I am wondering if anyone knows how to obtain a grant to open an assisted living home? I have met with the right people, have a business plan written and I am meeting with a grant writer come next Saturday. I am having no such luck finding a program that help assist with grants for opening elderly housing. Does anyone know of any or have anywhere to direct me? Do these types of grants exsist? This right now is the one thing holding us back from purchasing a home. I am 24 year old Realtor who also does care giving and I am hoping to do this with my mother who is a RN. First i should Thanks knurray and Bizresercher for reading and replying to my
question. The thing is i taught since our company is a trading academy or a
class and institute for stock market trading training then we might be
eligible to get a grant to expand our business. but based on previous
postings looks like since we are an organization for profit then there will
be no government grant. Please take a look at our website
www.equitytradingcapital.com as you see people actually come in our house
training classes and pay tuition to learn how to trade. so isnt our company
consider as a school and institute? Do we have to change the characters of
the company from LLC to different type of organization to be considered as a
school?

To be considered an officially recognized school, you need approval from your
state board of education or a similar entity. You can't just say you are a
school and seek funding available to institutions of higher learning. The
process is rigorous and can take a long time to gain approval. You will need
faculty with certain educational degrees, approved curriculum, and much more.

Unfortunately, there are no government grants for the type of business you
plan to start. Your best bet is to seek a loan.

As KMurray mentioned, grants are not generally available to start a
for-profit business. Your best bet is to seek a loan. Because you want to
purchase an existing facility, you might check with the owners and see if
they would carry the loan and allow you to make payments out of the monthly
income. This is quite common; it helps you and it also provides a stream of
income for the sellers.

Hi Sarah-Jean, Federal grants are typically aimed at specific industries and targeted causes identified by the government, such as scientific and medical research, conservation efforts, and so on. Check out this blog for more information. But other options, like loans, may be available to help. Good luck!
