A few years ago, there were a couple of women groups who would provide grants (small amounts) to women entrepreneurs - but, i don't think that many have survived this recession. But, you would still do a web search for women groups/organizations and see if the offer grants. I also think that Amercian Express does an annual women grant program in conjuction with Entrepreneur magazine. Might look into that.

There are a few private grant programs available to women entrepreneurs. Zions Bank offers a Smart Women grant every year, but it is a competitive program and the pay out is only around $3,000. Programs are out there, but they are usually for small amounts.

Hi CookingwithDena, Grants from the federal government are only available to non-commercial organizations, such as non-profits and educational institutions in areas such as, medicine, education, scientific research and technology development. You can use the Loans and Grants database as a tool to check which ones you are eligible for.
