I know I shouldn't do this, but it is too good to pass up.....   A good example of Green Washing is NEI and the Nuclear Industry who have waged a very (unfortunately) successful campaign to GREEN WASH thier industry even though they have yet to dispose of even one ounce of their cancer causing radiactive waste streams from the commercial/military nuclear energy cycle.  By the way, contrary to their claims, the nuclear industry IS NOT CO2 free Energy if you do a cradle to grave study of their nuclear fuel cycle.   Being Green is taking constructive steps to reduce your carbon footprint, and contribute to a renewable, Greener World.  It is my belief that we all have a responsibility to be good shepards of this Mother Earth.  If you at the drought in Australia, we are rapidly reaching a point where being green is no longer an option, but a life or death choice for every citizen of the world.   Business can,should and must be the leaders in this effort through example.    Reforestation projects, recycling programs, a more important program I like to refer to as 'Less is More'.  What could a business do as example to reduce the amount of paper they run through....could billing be handled with a phone call or a email instead of in an envelop with a stamp?  Imagine if 10 Million Bills were dealt with in a fashion that did not require envelops, stamps, vehicles used to move that mail into position, so forth and so on.  How about a business and its employees having enough trust in each other that employees could do most of their work at home....how many people get in their cars or take the train into the city from the burbs to spend their day in a cubicle talking on the phone and working on a computer!    That could all be done at home, maybe twice a week they would need to physically go to the office.  Forget FACE TIME, what would that do to take us off our dependence ono foreign oil?  How much more productive would a worker be if they could sleep in an extra hour because they were not facing the commute.  What would the effect on Global Warming be if we could PARK 20 Million Cars for three days a week?  Not an option...how about smaller statellite offices located closer to pools of employees, close to their homes.   Different industry, different ideas...look at home construction, and the whole thought process.  We need SMALLER homes, not McMansions.  Why does one city block in the suberbs with say 12 homes need with seven swimming pools when the block could SHARE ONE...lets get rid of the back yard fences, return to community.  Do we need 12 lawnmowers and 12 Stainless Steel Bar BQ units, or can we share.  Hillary Clinton said it takes a village to raise a child, and I would say it takes that same village concept to reverse Global Warming.   It's my belief, that saving the world is going to require us learning to do more with less, we are going to need to be smart conservation minded consumers, which means in turn, the Successful companies of tomorrow have to be producing conservation based consumer goods, need to be running their companies in a way that ARE GREEN.  Obama talks about Green Jobs, but that can only be a part of the picture.  We all need to do so much more, and Corporations need to start doing what is best for LONG TERM SURVIBILITY and SUSTAINABILITY if they are to be a part of the Green Movement that has gained too much speed to be stopped.   Green Washing is paying lip service to the issues, where as being green means doing your part in helping to solve those issues.  As consumers wake up to the reality of Global Warming and the Climate Change it brings, realize that our over consumption of the world's natural resources cannot continue, they will become ECO SMART CONSUMERS, and tomorrow's TITANS of the retail industry will be those that transition to being lean green ECO companies today.    Give me a group of CORPORATE STIFFS for a couple hours, talk to them about their children, and their grand children, ask them what kind of world they want for their own families...then start brain storming about becoming a GREEN COMPANY, and you would be surprised what they themselves will come up with...they just need a good swift kick in the butt is all.  Instead of listening to the Advertising Executives on Madison Avenue telling them how to make themselves Green, some of these companies need to put on some sneakers, grab their cameras and go out for a walk in the woods with someone like me so they can remember what is really important in life...I'll give them a part of my world, and who knows, maybe earn enough to own a part of theirs... LOL. Anybody got a spare Bentley for a out of work hippy? (Convertible....I want to feel the wind in my hair driving up the mountain to the Buddhist Temple just outside Woodstock New York.)   Being Green is not a $500 handbag made popular because some star carried it down the runway at the SUPPOSED Green Oscar Awards...green is planting a tree, then nuturing it into adulthood.  Green is not buying your kid a solar powered back pack to charge his/her cell phone with, but packing a lunch in that back pack and taking him/her out for a hike in Mother Nature, teaching them earth stewardship is green.  Green is not going to a Green Charity event and writing out a check...how about instead, going out and buying a CHUNK if land and paying someone to put it into hardwoods as we start to reforest thet planet, replace the lost canopy cooler that is Mother Earth's own built in scrubber and air conditioning system.   Smetimes it is hard to say exactly WHAT GREEN IS as it comes in lots of different shades, but think most people, and most companies know what isn't green, know when they are green washing instead of being green.   Cosmic Rabbit Green Nuclear Underground
