Groupon(daily deals) is very good business. But, "they(Groupon) have lot of
competitors, even though they are in leading in online business". But my
suggestion, don't invest daily deals business. Already, lot of websites are
proving daily deal service. So, try to get some new ideas. like "grubhub
clone script" or some other scripts.

This issue cannot be blanket answered with a broad brush, it depends not only on the situation but also how the business owner handles it.   As was stated by another poster, no one tried to get their contact info - that is of course a mistake.  Another poster stated that Groupon users  will just hop to another business when the find another deal.   Not in all cases.   Again, creativity is important.   There is a local small ice skating rink in this area that has used this type of service and it has been very effective for them.  They do have an advantage in that they provide a unique product in a very nice setting, but customers go there, enjoy their experience, often like the place and will go back in part for those reasons.   Get contact info, resolicit the same customers - as business owners know - Resolicting old customers and followup are 2 old and often extremely effective tools.

Really good replies! My personal experience is that it is extremely hard to convert them Groupon customers into to loyal customers. Instead i am focusing on up- and cross selling - is working quite well for me.

I find that Groupon, while it may bring you money now, is mostly for those looking for a deal (obviously) but the problem is that these people are less likely to be brand loyal and will jump once they find a good deal somewhere else. Try it and let us know how it worked for you!

If you're just starting your business or wanting to expand, then Groupon is an excellent tool. Just be sure you can handle the business that comes in! In my niche - cleaning - I have seen residential cleaning businesses with a ton of sales from 1 Groupon offer. So although the idea is tempting, just make sure you can handle the response! Groupon is a new way to promote a business or to brand a product. I have used it and also some of the Groupon clone softwares. The major advantage of Groupon is that people can find daily deals easily in their inbox. The categorization and clarification is good at Groupon, so that people can choose deals quite comfortably. In my view, Groupon is good for small, medium scale businesses and for entrepreneurs. It is the professional way of marketing a business.

Hello, I am a professional business coach and marketing expert, here is my take on Groupons...if you are going to discount all of your profitability away on the pretence that you will make up that loss at a later date, my recomendation would be to save your money. If however, you are using it to broaden your customer base with the intention of making your losses up over the lifetime of the consumer, I would consider a less expesive way to generate a new customer. You might consider marketing instead back more efficiently to existing customers through a rewards program or some sort of program designed to build a referral network. In other words, I am not a proponent on flushing good money after non profitable sales...especially in todays market. Don't be talked into using a service that costs you more money than you will make. Groupon marketing can do wonders for the right business, but with many small businesses it can be lethal. The problem is that many small business owners fail to take advantage of the traffic Groupon marketing will bring them. For example, my wife and I have purchased over 20 Groupon vouchers and do you know how many businesses tried to get my contact info?  That would be zero. They are hoping by doing business as usual, they will get repeat business. That is a poor marketing strategy and using Groupon will costs them dearly. One thing that many small business owners don't realize, you can negotiate the % cut to Groupon. Try to get groupon to take a lesser cut such as 30-45%. Before, a small business runs a Groupon marketing campaign, it takes extensive planning , such as picking the proper service and the best days to run your voucher. In addition, a small business owner must think of ways to upsell the groupon customer and to get their contact info. It can be tough but with some creativity, it can be the difference between a profitable Groupon and complete failure. Groupon is not a long-term marketing strategy, but a great way to get plenty of new customers in the right business with the right service or product.
