I'm sure that if you were required to provide health insurance IAW you contract they would statethe level which is needed. But, i'm sure the dont. It's one of those things where if you care about your emploees and i'm sure you do. You have to haave a meeting with them to find out what deductable either they are confortable with or better yet figure out whats comfortable for your budget. The higher the deductable the cheaper it will be. I know personally where one company gives it to his employees free with a 2,000 deductable. Other companies just let a company like aflac come in to offer benifits that are pay roll deducted under a cafeteria plan where the premiums are taken out prior to taxation thereby saving the employee money by just taxing them on the balance of their check and puts you in a favorable tax situation and it pays the employee the benifits directly to cover hospital visits from accidents, hospitalization, etc. Hope this helps.

wouldn't the benefit levels vary according to the state?

I dont think so - unlike car insurance there aren't many minimum provision levels dependednt on the state you're in. there probably is a minimum level of cover rquired for contacting to the Gov though as they will want to be seen to only work with 'ethical' partners.
