My name is Kenneth CEO of Unified IT Solutions, LLC... UITS has been in business since 2009 and we are your one stop IT shop. we do everything from IP Telephony to IT Managed Services, Desktop Support, Server support, sales and other IT services. we are a home based business looking to grow our business with obtaining our 8a and Small Disadvantaged Business certifications for government contracts. I'm needing assistance with filling out and applying for our 8a and the SDB certs. I signed up for a 8a class would this help?

Hello Kenneth, Small businesses interested in the 8(a) program should contact their local district office to attend an informational session on the program.  The SBA has nearly 70 district offices nationwide, at least one in every state.  An online 8(a) application is at http://www.sba.gov/8abd/ and you can visit the same Web site for more information about the 8(a) program.  Although, SDB certification is recognized by the SBA and the entire federal government, the SBA no longer provides SDB certification and the SDB certification is now a self-certification process.  I hope that this helps.

I'be been looking for the application for thr self certification, but no luck. If I find it who do I submit it too?

Hello, Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) Certification The certification process for a small disadvantaged business is the same as for a small business. It is a "self-certification" procedure. During the bidding or proposal process, the Representation and Certification Section of the solicitation asks specific questions concerning small business and small disadvantaged business status. Completing this section and signing the bid constitutes a self-certification.  I hope that this helps.
