I live in Uniontown, Ohio (44685). The plan for the business in a sole-proprietorship only doing computer repair. This is the first time I have looked into starting a business and was wondering what kind of forms I need to file to legitimize it. If somebody could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated!
I have a question for you. If this is a home based business, will you have customers bring their computers to your house or do you plan to go to them.
Personal experience, much better if you can go to them. I also know of a similar business in my area that partners with a local business for drop off and pick up. Thus, I could, drop off my computer at this cental location - when the repair guy is out of busy - then pick it up later on my way home.

If you are thinking of a Sole Proprietorship, you do not need to have a legal business entity. You just need to walk over to the nice and friendly town/county clerk (Town Hall) and file a name certificate either under your own name or under some other name (assumed name), also referred as a DBA (Doing Business As).
