Home Based Event/Wedding Planner asks: When do you officially "Open for Business"?

Dear everyone,

I really appreciate the insightful responses I obtain here! Therefore, I have another question.

I am completely new to the event/wedding planning business; therefore, I have no clientele base as of yet.

How do I market myself? When am I suppose to start seeking clients? When can I say that I am officially 'OPEN FOR BUSINESS'??

Do I first obtain ALL the necessities such as office gear all up and running ( such as fax, business cards/website-email/flyers, etc.) first?

And if I do require all of that first, THEN when and how do I approach potential clients and 'sell myself' to them?

And last, I obviously will need vendors help such as caterers, venues, flowers, etc. How do I obtain vendors to work with me and help my business grow and succeed in this industry?

This is very important to me so any insightful, helpful piece of information will be greatly appreciated!!!
