It has to do with free to air satellites, there are lots of true free to air free public broadcasting people can get with satellite dishes in north america, central america, south america, europe, and all over the world. The office is outside the home, but I did work from a home office for the first 5 years. It was helpful that it was on the second floor of our house. I definitely think setting up an entirely separate area for your business is critical from a mental standpoint.

It depends on the business you are in. If you are selling cookies (bake them at home) you have to be out and about looking for clients and home to bake the cookies. If you have consulting company you probably will stay home more and find clients on the internet. I personally work mostly from home because I communicate with my clients mostly via email and phone.

I'm running my business from home, however this doesn't mean i'm always at home. I can do most things from my laptop and from anywhere where i can have a internet connection. So i like to be on the road a lot. It gets boring to stay home all day long. Also it is essential to have an home office separated from the living area. Too many distractions there. I have a little hut in the garden, which is my office. Great to get some quiet time to work.
