How do I approach businesses to include them on my website?

I've just launched my site (I'm self taught in web design --I'm just tired of
quality businesses being stuck with scammers/spammers on other sites... 60%
of them so I designed this website) Also.... I'm stuck at how to approach
businesses who might want to advertise by placing their article on category
home pages, products on category pages, or to get a Quick Page/listing
(similar to a Lead Page). How should I start in approaching businesses? I'm
considering attending a few networking events in my area but I have 65
categories to fill, 3 businesses per category! so cold calling might be best
or email marketing...what do you think?

to inviting any other business to list them with me. Remember, web is all
"text" to search engine robots (even images are interpreted as per their file
names, description tags, etc.), so get out there and publish as much
"quality" content as possible linking back to your website. Pretty soon,
search engines and other website owners matching your interests will discover
your website and establish relationships with you. As for creating content
pointing to your website, think about giving "useful" information on blogs,
question-answer sites, forums and social media sites. Over time, all the dots
will match up to create a favorable reputation for your own business and you
will gain.

be tough, but you need to prove that your site brings results and that takes
time. You may need to give away some free listings to get businesses listed.
Once you prove that you know how to deliver results, others will follow.
