Good idea. That kind of IT-services business could be started with very small initial investment and funding. Your folks can basically work from their homes, since most of services will be rendered remotely.   Nevertheless, it's all about marketing.   Are you serving small, medium or larger businesses, or perhaps individuals in their homes? How will they hear about you? Will they trust your brand? Why should they prefer you. Et cetera. I think that the price aspect is not so critical, just offer the market price and leave some room for a friendly discount. Offering too low price in the first place could devalue your brand, because after all, you have highly skilled technicians!

To ensure that you do not waste time, effort, and resources, the first step is to ... Validate the Business Concept and Opportunity. Is your business concept valid ... it appears so given your (1) product alignment with market needs: high inelastic demand (2) low-cost leadership probability during recession (3) high product accessiblity through varying product distribution channels (4) technical expertise BUT Is the opportunity likely to be successful if your competitors cut their prices to protect their market share ... if they seize or copy your product distribution ... if they flood the market with innovative, disruptive technology? In other words: what are the threats and real opportunities ... what additional resources will you need ... what is the likelihood of your success ... are you ready to do competitive battle?

I totally agree with hlanea, start a business plan that includes costs, personal, paychecks, prices, equipment, market share and profits forecast. The plan might change over time but you will have the general idea and direction.

The IT support industry has been growing and you want to make sure that you can get into a area that will give you business.
