I am going to set up a LLC in states. I am thinking of LLC either company
based or home based. What's the requirements on location, can I use a
friend's home, who is also my partner?

descriptions of steps for setting up an LLC in all fifty states, including
for some states links to forms and for many states the exact name of the free
form available at the state website. Note that I also describe steps for how
to treat those LLCs as S corporations. But you probably don't want to have
your new LLC treated as an S corporation until you're up, running, and
starting to pay significant amounts of tax.
BTW, you can make the election to later treat your LLC as an S corporation at
pretty much any time. Typically, though, you'd make the election at the very
start of your first really excellent year.
Good luck with your new venture!

The IRS treats most LLCs as partnerships.
Typically you can use any address you want as long as you are able to get
mailings sent there. Most LLCs require a registered agent - this is just
someone that the state can send stuff to and have a name to put with it. This
can be you or your partner.
If you contact (either online or by phone) your state's secretary of state's
office, they will let you know what you have to do and where to get
(download) the forms as well as tell you what fees are required.

check with the agency in his/her state that registers businesses to find out
the requirements in that area.
