How to start a mobile Business

How do I go about starting a Mobile Business that is going to travel across the United States. What do I do. There is no information about this I need steps and information on how to start it an what things I need to do. Do I register a Business name under the state I live in? What permits do I need? Will I need permits for every state I travel to?

This is a Business that sells BMX / SKATEBOARDS and it's Mobile.

Businesses need to do a much better job with mobile marketing in the same way that they need to do a much better job at local online marketing as a whole. If they don't they're going to be left behind. -- Removed Commercial Link

That is a very broad question and hard to answer. Here is my suggestion: Find a local SCORE or SBDC in your area. They are part of the SBA and free to use. Plus, they would better understand your local laws and rules and can help you research and develop your business plan. If you come up with more specific questions, I am sure we can help answer those. You could also find another vendor that is doing what you are doing and ask them about the ins and outs of the business.

You don't need permits in every state. I think u have to pay some taxs in other states but it's now big $

You should start by going to the city and start asking for the requirements of starting a mobile business.

If you are planning to sell items at BMX races and other events around the country, then you may need to obtain a temporary vendor's permit in each community where you will sell and you may also need to obtain a temporary sales tax permit in each state. This is common for those who sell at antiques shows and flea markets and the same requirements may apply to your business as well.

I don't think that you need permits in every state, if you are registered in a state you pay taxes in that state

We have a business article about How to Legally Sell Your Goods at Fairs, Garage Sales, Flea Markets, and Craft Shows. This would be fairly similar. Like BizResearcher said, you will need to get temporary sales tax permits. Each state has different rules, so you will need to do research and keep good books on your finances. Business.gov has a list of the state government's business or tax portals. JimD
