I have 2 websites.. long story. First one launched '06 and the other '08. I prefer the domain name of the latter one but if I stop using the first one, I lose the longevity (3 years) if I drop that one.
Any hints like redirects so that I don't lose the back end links that were built? I've heard that is a bad idea for SEO purposes.
Any tips? My second site is doing pretty well in search results so, I need to know if I should bite the bullet and move forward with second site?
Thank you.

in the process. I think you should consolidate everything into one domain -
you can keep the previous domain up saying 'we've moved' or you could
redirect.
Keeping 2 domains might confuse or turn away some real customers. When I see
a website that looks as being part of a farm, even if it's not, I'm very
likely to skip it.
