I beleive sales taxes only need to be collected for customers in the same state as the business. The Secretary of State's office for your state should have  list of items covered by sales taxes and the guidelines for collecting them. Only your state can levy a sales tax on your business.  Please be aware that this is not professional tax advice. 

It's generally based on a combination of the location of your business and the location of your customer's delivery address. So if you are located in FL and ship to FL, you need to collect & remit FL sales tax. If you are located in FL and ship out of state, generally you don't need to do so. But if you have some sort of physical location in another state (e.g., warehouse, fulfillment center, sales office, etc.), that state may require sales tax collection as well if you ship to someone in that state. It's really important to keep good documentation on your shipping records to be able to prove where you sent your product, too. This is a hotly contested area of sales tax regulation at this point because the states are losing a lot of tax money on internet based sales. States are getting more aggressive about enforcement on this issue, so if you've got an accountant, I'd suggest getting specific advice about how this impacts your type of business. Penalties for getting this wrong are costly.

You would charge the rate for where you live, just as if a person could walk into a store you owned and make a purchase. You wouldn't need to determine the tax rate where every customer lives.

I have a related question: if tax is charged, from what location is the tax rate based, my physical presence or the buyers location?   For example, if my office is in Glendale, AZ, is the tax I charge for a buyer in Flagstaff, AZ the Glendale rate or Flagstaff rate?

If your business has a physical presence in a state, such as a store, office or warehouse, you must collect applicable state and local sales tax from your customers. If you do not have a presence in a particular state, you are not required to collect sales taxes from customers in that state.
