I plan to sell prints of my artwork online. Do I need a business license and all that?

Can I just claim the income as self-employment income and be done with it, or do I need a business license? I figure that if folks in my home state buy the prints I will need to charge them sales tax and then pay it to the state? Is that true? How do I do that?
Thanks so much in advance for your response. I'm having trouble figuring this all out.
Thanks,
Yernar

most areas it is very inexpensive to register an LLC or Sole Proprietorship,
so even just for the purpose of securing your 'brand' and locking in a
business name that correlates to your website URL, I would recommend it. A
lot of areas are transitioning more to online business registration services,
so here in Utah I can get my LLC all registered and confirmed on the web
without having the do any manual paperwork, and then they send me the
certification in the mail...
