If your self employed, are you responsible for paying yourself?

It might seem like a strange question but I'm really curious.  If your paid direct deposit into a business checking account, but have your own at home business and considered to be self employed, do you pay yourself from the money deposited into your business??  I am a certified business owner working as an independent insurance claims processor.  So do I technically pay myself out of my business checking account?
