I am not sure what you mean by an impound account. In most localities, your
city or county can file a lien against your property for unpaid property
taxes. That is a very serious matter. If you do not satisfy the lien, your
property could be sold at auction for cents on the dollar. If you have a
mortgage on the property and you are paying the taxes yourself, not having
the bank include them as part of your monthly payment, the bank has the right
to protect its interests.
