Independent Contractor Status

To whom it may concern:
 
       If a delivery driver is claasified as an independent contactos and delivers products that do not require a signature, can he/she be required to ring doorbells?. My understanding of independent contractor status is that how the job is completed is up to the independent contractor.

The Independent Contractor status is defined by state and federal laws. To be classified as an Independent contractor, the worker CANNOT WORK FOR ONLY ONE COMPANY. Their time cannot be controlled  by that one company. The way the work is done will not impact the classification. If one company controls the worker time and work, the government will change the classification of the worker, and you will owe S/S and medicare payments.
