If you are planning to have an online business and are purchasing products within and outside the United States. Is it important to obtain intelllectual property rights eventhough you purchased the product. Isn't all you are doing is reselling the product and not claiming that you made the product.
I am not clear when and how to obtain intellectual property rights. Thanks!
What sort of products are we talking about? If you hire freelancers, for example, to write for you, etc. you should clearly stipulate that any work they do for you belongs to you. That way you have copyright.

The product I am talking about is an TV/Radio USB internet device that is sold overseas. If this device is purchased from a business in the US can this same business sell it without obtaining intellectual rights. I am not clear if a business purchased a product do they have the legal right to sell it without getting intellectual rights. If legal rights are needed what next? I went to the government website about patents, copyright's, etc but I didn't see anything that answered my question.
