Here is the background to my questions.I am a Canadian citizen residing in Canada.I am about to publish my first website for Internet Marketing selling purses, handbags, costume jewellery to consumers within the USA direct from my vendor in Florida.
I have read the piece about collecting Sales Tax and that unless this is a physical store, I am not required to collect these taxes.
Am I right in thinking from the above that if I start my internet marketing business, any income will be from Affiliate Companies - will the records they provide be all I require as proof of earnings. Is it worth going on a basic tax etc course?

Business.gov has sections devoted to Collecting Sales Tax Over the Internet and International Online Sales.
I suggest that you look at these two pages for further clarification, but to sum up - if your business does not have a physical presence in a particular state, you are notrequired to collect sales tax in that state. Ifyou are uncertain whether or not your business qualifies as a physicalpresence, contact your state's revenue agency.
tip: Many onlineretailers use online shopping cart services to handle their salestransactions because these services are usually programmed to calculatesales tax rates for you.
